Check official closures, reroutes, and notices before each hike. Map features do not confirm that a facility or road is open.
ATC trail updates ↗Review current permits, shelter reservations, camping rules, and food storage requirements with the park.
NPS backcountry planning ↗Use the forecast for your actual route and overnight stops. This first version links to forecast sources; it does not display live conditions.
ATWeather ↗ NWS ↗Mileage follows NPS/ATC GIS centerline geometry, not guidebook mileage. Access points and shelters are snapped to their nearest trail vertex. Side-trail mileage is excluded. Terrain ascent is a coarse DEM estimate, not a surveyed climbing total.
Compare with the ATC map ↗NPS / Appalachian Trail Conservancy ANST_Facilities, service edition April 24, 2026. Downloaded October 25, 2026. Elevation: Open-Meteo / Copernicus DEM GLO-90. Basemap: Esri and contributors; OpenStreetMap available as an alternative. The corridor includes adjacent Tennessee sections and access at US 19E.
Water availability, parking permission, shelter availability, and current access are not verified by this map. Saved trips and completion history are stored privately under your signed-in account and load across devices. Click Save after editing a plan. Completion changes save immediately. Other devices refresh when you return to the site and every 30 seconds while it is visible. You can also use Refresh cloud. Conflicting edits require your choice before overwriting anything. Older browser-only hikes can be imported using the banner on that device. Export backup remains available. Basemap tiles require internet access. GPX exports include the AT centerline and your selected overnight shelters or campsites as named waypoints, with night numbers and dates when a start date is set. The track excludes side trails to those facilities.
